Police have arrested another suspect in the case of a the abduction, abuse and murder of nine-year-old Gino in June last year.

The public prosecution office is accusing the person of involvement in hiding the boy’s body but stressed they were not suspected of other criminal acts in the case.

The person, who was apprehended on Thursday, has since been released and no date has been given for a preliminary hearing.

Donny M, who has prior convictions for abusing boys, was arrested just days after Gino disappeared while out playing in Kerkrade, in Limburg.

He admitted to having drugged and abused the boy at his home in Geleen. He then smothered him and left the body near a house in Geleen wrapped in bin bags.

Police have not yet clarified the presence of fingerprints found at the scene which do not belong to M, his ex-girlfriend, or the boy himself.
