One person dies in rush-hour stabbing incident in supermarket
One person has died following a stabbing incident in a supermarket in The Hague.
Emergency services were called to the Albert Heijn branch in Turfmarkt, next to Centraal Station, at around 7am.
A suspect was arrested in the vicinity shortly afterwards, police said. AD reported that two other people were injured, one of them a police officer, but this was unconfirmed.
Several ambulance crews were on scene, but were unable to save the victim, who has not been named by police.
An air ambulance was also called but turned back before it arrived, Omroep West reported.
Black screens were put up around the entrance to the store and the street was cordoned off. Spots of blood could be seen on the cycle path.
A shop worker quoted in AD claimed to have seen the suspect walking out of the supermarket, wearing a hooded top and with “blood on his hands”.
