Polish man, wanted for murder in Poland, is arrested in Beverwijk
A Polish national wanted for murder in his home country has been arrested in Beverwijk, police said on Friday.
The 35-year-old was the subject of an international arrest warrant and is suspected of committing a murder in Poland in 2009. He is also wanted for theft, trading in synthetic drugs and being a member of an organised crime gang.
Polish police had tipped off the Dutch he may be in the country.
The man, who faces 25 years in jail in Poland, tried to escape but was caught by a special police intervention team. During the raid on the Beverwijk property police also found a gun and false ID.
The man now faces extradition to Poland.
