AZ bans 43 fans from its stadium after West Ham crowd trouble
Alkmaar football club AZ has banned 43 fans from its stadium following last week’s trouble after AZ was beaten by West Ham in the Conference League semi-final.
A large group of AZ supporters tried to break through the barrier at the main stand where family and friends of West Ham supporter were sitting.
Eleven supporters have also been arrested and the club says more stadium bans cannot be ruled out after photos of other offenders were shown on a television crime show. The club’s own investigation is in parallel to the police probe.
The club said it was also in talks with the authorities about this Sunday’s key home match against PSV, which is the last of the season and will help determine next season’s European placings.
‘The main point here is to ensure that the thousands of decent AZ supporters can have a pleasant experience,’ the club said.
