National regional transport strike off but Arriva stoppage to go ahead

A national strike by regional transport workers called by union FNV for this month has been cancelled pending further negotiations.

The union wants employers to up wages in line with inflation but if that and other demands are not met a four day strike will go ahead in January, an FNV spokesman told Nu.nl.

The regional transport services employ around 13,000 people, including drivers and conductors at Qbuzz, Arriva and Keolis.

However, a strike by Arriva drivers announced last week following the breakdown of pay talks will go ahead on Thursday and Friday in Friesland and Groningen, and on Monday in south east Drenthe.
