There were mixed fortunes for Dutch clubs in Europe on Thursday night, but PSV and AZ are both assured of overwintering in European competition.

PSV Eindhoven beat Arsenal at home 2-0, putting them into second place in the Europa League’s Group A and qualifying for the knock out stages with one game in hand. Watch the highlights

But Rotterdam football club Feyenoord lost their tie in the dying minutes of the game to Austrian side Sturm Lutz – leaving them needing to beat Lazio next week to go through. Watch the highlights

Feyenoord coach Arne Slot described the loss as ‘unnecessary’. ‘We did not play a great game but we did not need to lose,’ he told reporters after the match.

In the Conference League, AZ beat FV Vaduz 1-2 away and they too qualify for the next stage.

Ajax, beaten 3-0 by Liverpool on Wednesday night, will move down to the Europa League competition, if they hold onto their four goal advantage when they meet Glasgow Rangers next week.
