Weather records galore are broken as NL basks in autumn sunshine
The temperature at the De Bilt weather station topped 20 degrees on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the first time there have been three consecutive ‘warm’ days in the Netherlands in October, according to official records.
The unseasonal weather in October pushed the number of officially warm days up to 112 this year, a total beaten only in 2018 and 2003.
Friday and Saturday were also the warmest October 28 and 29 since records began in 1901, with temperatures of almost 25 degrees in Eindhoven on Saturday.
According to weather bureau Weerplaza, Monday and Tuesday will remain mild for the time of year, with temperatures in the mid to high teens, but rain and blustery weather will move in mid week.
The KNMI weather bureau said that the average autumn temperature in De Bilt, where official Dutch records are set, is now 1.7 degrees warmer than it was in 1901, at 10.9 degrees.
