Far right MP ‘should be reprimanded’ for not revealing outside income
Far right MP Thierry Baudet should be given a formal reprimand for failing to declare earnings from his outside interests, even though he is required to do so under parliamentary rules, parliament’s integrity committee said on Thursday.
Baudet is thought to have earned €85,000 from the sale of his books and his job as director of his own publishing house. He has also earned money from his role as a board member at Forum voor Democratie BV, a limited company with a variety of commercial interests.
He has, however, refused to list his income in the register of members’ interests, which was established to stop potential conflicts of interest, in line with the MPs’ code of conduct.
MPs will now vote on whether Baudet should be given a formal reprimand.
If Baudet continues to refuse to make his additional earnings public, he can be suspended from parliament for a month.
