Dutch singer Stien den Hollander will represent the Netherlands at next year’s Eurovision Song Festival in Italy.

Den Hollander, who uses the stage name S10, is best known for her hit Adem je in (breathe you in) and was described by the Eurovision website as an ‘alt pop sensation’.

She has also opted to sing in Dutch. ‘Having selected English-language entries for the last 11 years, we’re now sending a Dutch song,’ said Eric van Stade, general manager of Dutch public broadcaster AvroTros. ‘We’re sticking our necks out with this choice, which the selection committee unanimously supports.’

‘Music is everything to me,’ Den Hollander, 21, told the Eurovision website. ‘In front of such a massive audience, being able to do something that’s such an honour while representing the Netherlands… I think it’s absolutely wonderful.’

The Netherlands won the 2019 edition of the festival but this year Jeangu Macrooy was a disappointing 23rd with his song Birth of a New Age.

The Netherlands will have to get through the semi-finals to qualify for the main event, which will be held in Turin on May 14.

AvroTros has not yet revealed anything about the number which S10 will perform.
