No change in coronavirus patient numbers, positive test rate rises again
The number of patients in hospital with coronavirus is almost unchanged in the last 24 hours, according to the latest daily figures from the RIVM.
There are currently 2,824 people receiving treatment in Dutch hospitals, including 626 in intensive care. The respective figures on Tuesday were 2,826 and 624. Another 16 Dutch patients are in intensive care in Germany.
The public health agency RIVM reported another 18,144 positive tests on Wednesday, 155 more than the day before. The total number is roughly the same as a week ago, when some regional figures were missing because of technical problems.
The percentage of positive tests increased again to 21.9%, close to the recent peak of 22.5% at the end of November. The higher concentration is thought to be partly the result of more people using self-tests before contacting the local health service (GGD).
Anyone who receives a positive result from a home testing kit is advised to book a free PCR test with the GGD.
