An MP for the far right PVV is again at the centre of a row over his abusive behaviour towards women, this time made by a parliamentary worker.

Dion Graus, who has been an MP for the party since 2006, has been accused by a party assistant of making her drink alcohol, forcing her to do ‘serious things’ and stalking her, the NRC reported on Friday.

The woman reported the situation to former parliamentary chairwoman Khadija Arib who took steps to ban him from the parliamentary complex, the paper said. However, Graus has not been officially banned from parliament, nor have the complaints been investigated, new chairwoman Vera Bergkamp confirmed on Saturday.

Bergkamp said in a statement that she did not have the power to take such action and that it is up to the parties themselves to investigate the claims made against Graus.

However, the new claims against the MP are ‘worrying’, she said, and called on people to report any issues to the appropriate officials. ‘It is in everyone’s interest to ensure that parliament is a safe work environment,’ she said.

Party leader Geert Wilders has not reacted directly the latest claims about Graus but did say on Twitter that ‘all journalists, with some exceptions, are scum’. Graus has denied the allegations, telling the paper that they are part of a plot against him by some within the party.

Earlier claims

In February the NRC reported on claims of psychological abused against Graus made by his ex wife, who claims he arranged sexual encounters with other men, including his bodyguards, over a period of several years.

Those incidents are alleged to have taken place in hotels, saunas, and on one occasion in Graus’s parliamentary office.

In 2003 Graus faced allegations of abuse and stalking from two former partners, one of whom claimed he had grabbed her by the throat and threatened to put a gun to her head while she was pregnant. The prosecution service decided not to proceed with the case, but later said there had been sufficient evidence to bring charges against the MP.
