Amsterdam’s regional health board is to restart using a coronavirus breath test, saying the results it gives are ‘extremely reliable’.

Use of the test was halted last weekend after a number of wrong results were reported by the Amsterdam region. However, it now transpires the results were were read wrongly, a spokesman for the Amsterdam health board said.

‘We are now working on training our workers better to deal with this point,’ the spokesman said. Ultimately, the test will be used across all four of the capital’s drop in test centres.

The test, which replaces the nose swab with breathing out into a tube, had been trialled in several locations in Amsterdam since the end of January.
