Nathan Aké moves to Man City, joins list of most expensive Dutch players
Dutch international Nathan Aké has become the fourth most expensive Dutch player of all time, with a €44m (£41m) move from Bournemouth to Manchester City.
Aké, who has played in the UK since he was a youngster, went to Bournemouth from Chelsea in 2017 for around €22m. He controversially joined Chelsea from Feyenoord as a 15-year-old, and made his Premier League debut at the age of 17 but never really found his feet at the club.
‘This is a dream for me,’ the 25-year-old defender said about the move to the north. ‘I can’t wait to get started.’
Aké has 13 caps for the Netherlands.
1. Virgil van Dijk £75 million
2. Matthijs de Ligt £68 million
3. Frenkie de Jong £65 million
4. Nathan Ake £41 millionAke joins the most expensive Dutchmen of all time.
Interesting that three of the four are defenders given Netherlands reputation of attacking football. pic.twitter.com/I9Q78TGwtH
