We’re all going on a summer holiday: large queues expected this weekend
Large queues are expected on Dutch motorways on the first big holiday weekend, while major routes in Germany and France will be jam-packed as well, travellers have been warned.
Many people will not be traveling abroad for their holidays and that means Dutch roads are likely to be busy on Friday afternoon and Saturday, motoring organisation ANWB said.
Traffic jams are expected to appear in the course of the morning, particularly in the east and south of the country, and last until well into the afternoon. The most likely bottlenecks are the A1 Hengelo to Amersfoort in both directions, the Afsluitdijk on the A7, the A12 from Utrecht to the German border and roads in the province of Zeeland.
Holiday traffic in Germany and France will also be particularly busy on Saturday, the ANWB said.
