Mother of Marken girl, killed in hit and run, appeals to the driver
The mother of a 14-year-old girl killed in a hit and run incident on a quiet country road has made an emotional appeal to the driver of the car to come forward.
Trijntje Boes told television talk show Op1 that her daughter had left the family home on the former island of Marken after a row about bedtimes. ‘She went off on foot and I went after her, but I did not find her,’ she said.
Tamar’s body was found by police at around 4am on Saturday morning. Her injuries show she had probably been hit by a car.
‘Let go of the idea of what you have done,’ Boes said in her appeal to the driver. ‘Tamar is gone. But we have so many questions. What time did she die? Did you see her? Were you driving too fast? Tamar deserves justice… she was left at the side of the road like an animal.’
Police have already examined four cars belonging to people in the close knit community of Marken which show signs of recent damage.
