Three more people have died of Covid-19 in the Netherlands while another five have been admitted to hospital, according to the latest daily update by the public health agency RIVM.

On average eight people a day have died in the last week, while new hospital admissions have been below 20 a day for the last three weeks. The government has said it will reimpose lockdown measures if the rate of admissions rises above 40.

Another 165 positive tests were reported on Monday, down from 239 the day before.

More than 52,000 people were tested for coronavirus in the first week of June, compared to 33,000 in the last week of May. Overall 2.1% of tests were positilve. Testing capacity has been increased so that anyone with suspected symptoms can be checked for the disease.
