Suspicious package: phone thief caught with 30 handsets in his cycling shorts
Police have stopped a pickpocket who made off from a concert with 30 mobile phones stuffed into his cycling shorts.
The 34-year-old Romanian national stole the phones at a concert by Sum41 at the AFAS Live venue on Tuesday night. Officers were on alert after 50 handsets were snatched during a recent performance by the same band in Antwerp.
Police sealed off the exits after they started receiving reports of thefts during the concerts and intercepted the culprit as he left the venue. He is due to appear at a fast-track court hearing next week.
