Dutch arrest British gangster as he sat down to Christmas dinner
Dutch police have arrested the suspected ringleader of a British crime gang as he sat down for dinner at a restaurant in The Hague on Christmas Day..
Daniel Burdett, 28, from Liverpool, had been on the run for five years and was detained under a European arrest warrant.
The arrest was part of a British investigation into a crime group thought to be using corrupt truck drivers to smuggle firearms and ammunition from the Netherlands into Britain.
Burdett faces 10 charges of conspiracy to import firearms and conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs. He will now appear before Dutch magistrates who will consider his extradition to Britain.
