Diemen man investigated for illegal abortion after two bodies found
A man arrested two weeks ago after police found two bodies in a house in Diemen is suspected of carrying out an illegal abortion and of manslaughter, the public prosecution department said on Tuesday.
The man, 48, was the tenant of the house where the bodies – that of a woman and a child – were found. He was remanded in custody for two weeks by judges in Amsterdam on Tuesday.
The public prosecutor has declined to give further details about the case and said the investigation is continuing.
The Parool named the suspect as Dennis van E, and said he was a pension expert who had temporarily stopped working in the financial sector because ‘he had enough money’.
Neighbours told the paper that Van E had lived in the Diemen apartment for some time and that a younger woman had moved in recently. They also spoke of police finding a blood bath when they entered the apartment on September 18.
