Happy End: Dutchman wins world judo title
The Netherlands has won a judo world title for the first time in 10 years, with a win by Noël van ’t End in Tokyo.
Fighting for the first time in a world championship match, Van ’t End won over Japanese favourite Shoichiro Mukai – who appeared so distraught he remained face-down on the mat for several seconds.
The Dutch 28-year-old, who fights in the under 90kg category, is the sixth Dutchman to have become a world champion.
