Dutch singer Glennis Grace, who is already a star in her own right in the Netherlands, has made it through to the final of US talent show America’s Got Talent.

Grace was among the three semi-finalists with the lowest scores after her performance of This Woman’s Work by Kate Bush but made it through to the 10-strong grand final line-up on September 18. There are three singers in the final, including a 14-year-old girl from Britain.

‘I don’t want to slight the others, but America has absolutely made a good choice,’ judging panel leader Simon Cowell said. ‘You really deserve a place in the final and I am very happy for you.’

The winner of the contest gets €1m, a recording contract and a show in Las Vegas.

Grace is part of the successful Ladies of Soul line-up in the Netherlands, in which she performs classic hits alongside Berget Lewis, Edsilia Rombey and saxophonist Candy Dulfer.

The AD said earlier that, Grace, who is 40, did not put herself forward for the American contest. Rather, her international management showed a video of her performing the song to the programme’s producers and they invited her to take part in the auditions.

Grace broke into showbiz in the Netherlands when she was just 16 after winning a junior talent show singing Whitney Houston’s ‘One Moment in Time’.
