Kiki Bertens is first Dutch WTA/ATP hard court winner for 12 years
Dutch tennis player Kiki Bertens survived a championship point to beat world number one Simona Halep and win the Cincinnati Masters on Sunday.
Bertens, who is 26 and ranked world number 17, lost the first set 2-6 but went on to win the the next two sets 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 in just over two hours.
‘Unbelievable moment, winning my first hard court title against the world number 1‘ Bertens said on Instagram after the match. She is the the first Dutch winner at a singles WTA/ATP hard court tournament since 2006.
