Eindhoven bomb scare caused by 13-year-old boy’s drawing

A drawing by a 13-year-old English boy led to the bomb scare in a Ryanair plane at Eindhoven airport in July, the public prosecution department said on Thursday.

The drawing, which according to the department showed how to blow up a plane, was found in an aircraft which was being readied to fly to Edinburgh.

The 200 passengers were then told to disembark while police searched the plane with sniffer dogs for explosives. In the end their flight was delayed for over 24 hours.

The boy was eventually traced and told officials he did not think anyone would consider it a serious bomb threat.

No action is planned against the teenager because of his age and the fact he did not intend to initiate a hoax, the prosecution department said.
