Navy divers have found the body of one of two divers who went missing in the Grevelingenmeer in Zeeland at the weekend. The search for the second man will resume on Monday, officials said.

The two men, both said to be experienced, went diving on Saturday afternoon but failed to return to the Scharendijke diving club where they had left their car key. The owner sounded the alarm on Saturday evening.

The two men, one of whom may have been a trained diving instructor, had apparently planned to visit one of several wrecks in the Grevelingenmeer.

The Grevelingenmeer was completely closed off from the North Sea in the 1970s as part of the Delta works flood prevention scheme.
