Utrecht city council’s new administration will be made up of the left-wing greens GroenLinks, D66 and minor Christian party ChristenUnie.

GroenLinks and D66 were part of the previous administration, together with the right-wing VVD and the Socialists. The new administration’s plans will be unveiled on Friday.

GroenLinks and D66 are also part of coalitions in The Hague and Amsterdam, and Rotterdam is the only one of the big four cities to still be without a new administration.

The stumbling block in the port city is is the biggest party after the March local elections – Leefbaar Rotterdam. The left-wing parties in the port city are trying to build a coalition without Leefbaar, but Leefbaar is trying to build a working majority involving the VVD.
