Fast food chain McDonald’s Nederland booked record turnover of €811m in 2017, a 11% gain over the previous year, the company said on Thursday. Sales also rose 9% in 2016.

Director Manu Steijaert said the increase could be attributed to restaurant revamps which attracted many new customers and to former customers who decided to give McDonald’s another try, news website Nu.nl reported.

In total, the 245 McDonald’s outlets in the Netherlands served eight million more meals last year, an increase of 5% over 2016. The remainder of the sales increase came from higher prices and the fact that customers often opted for the more expensive menu items.

For the current year, McDonald’s hopes to grow as much as it did in 2017. A number of its outlets will be expanded and innovations such as the coffee corner McCafé, table service and home delivery will be developed further, Steijaert said.
