The Amsterdam man arrested outside a concert by Dutch singer Guus Meeuwis in June, causing a major security scare, will not face any charges, the public prosecution department said on Tuesday.

The man, described at the time as ‘potentially radicalised’ did not have a ticket for the concert but was caught filming around the entrance, just three weeks after the suicide bomb attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

He was taken to a police station for questioning where it transpired that he was already ‘known to the police’ and potentially radicalized, police said in a statement at the time.

After a ‘thorough’ investigation, the department has concluded there is no legitimate and convincing evidence’ and has dropped the case, the statement said.

‘The investigation showed that he did not have contact with radicalised people,’ the department said.

‘He told the police that, as an asylum seeker, he merely wanted to show his friends the mass of people at the event via Facebook.’
