Singing in the rain: Anouk beach concert goes ahead
Dutch singer Anouk, due to perform on a rainy beach on Friday evening, is determined to brave a wash-out although fans have been trying to resell their tickets for as little as €7.
NOS broadcaster reports that around 600 tickets were for sale in the morning on the Ticketswap site, with reports of heavy wind and rain predicted at the same time as the Live on the Beach concert in Scheveningen.
Not only are rucksacks and chairs banned: it is not possible to bring an umbrella either.
But the concert organiser is reporting that the 6pm event will go ahead, is sold out and is predicted to be “extremely busy”.
Tickets have a face value of €38.75, and while the warm-up act has been scrapped, Anouk is still planning to take to the stage. Organiser Arwin Touw told Omroep West that bad weather is always a risk with an outdoor concert “but this is, of course, still the Netherlands, and not Curaçao.”
He advised audience members to put on rain ponchos and a smile, while the singer posted a picture of herself in the shower on Instagram as “mental preparation.”
