Community service for crane driver who caused fatal train crash
The 23-year-old driver of the crane which caused a train to derail on a level crossing last year, killing the driver, has been sentenced to 100 hours community service for negligence.
The man thought he had 15 minutes to cross the track but in fact eight, not four trains used the track at rush hour on the route between Emmen and Zwolle, the court was told.
The train, which was only carrying 15 people at the time, was derailed in the crash. Two passengers were injured.
