Dutchman arrested for blowing up 17 ATMs in Germany
Dutch police have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of blowing up seventeen ATMs in Germany between February and May last year, the Telegraaf writes.
His accomplice is still on the run, German police said. The two are suspected of being part of the so-called Audi gang, a group of around 250 people from the Utrecht and Amsterdam areas who are targeting ATMs in Germany because Dutch ATMs have become more difficult to break into.
The gang use Audis to make a quick getaway in the direction of the Dutch border. In February two alleged members of the group were killed when their car left the Autobahn at high speed.
The two suspects had been on the police radar since May, the Telegraaf said.
