Air France-KLM has been fined €325m for its role in making price agreements for air freight covering 1999 to February 2006.

‘The cartel arrangements consisted of numerous contacts between airlines, at both bilateral and multilateral level to fix the level of fuel and security surcharges,’ the European Commission said in a statement.

In total, the Commission fined 11 airlines €776m, including Air Canada, British Airways and Singapore Airlines. Air France-KLM had the highest fine.

The investigation was begun in 2010 and in November that year, the commission slapped a total of €800m in fines on the 11 airlines concerned. Lufthansa, and its subsidiary Swiss International Air Lines, were granted immunity from the fines for their role in sparking the investigation.

Air France-KLM said it would study the new ruling which comes after the initial ruling was annulled on procedural grounds.
