The Paradise Suite takes best Dutch film award
The Paradise Suite was the big winner at this year’s Golden Calf awards, picking up best film, best screenplay and best actor for Issaka Sawadogo in Utrecht on Friday evening.
The film follows a number of people who move to Amsterdam from abroad and explores how their lives intertwine. It was the Dutch nomination for the 88th Academy Awards but was not shortlisted.
The best actress award went to Hannah Hoekstra for her role in De Helleveeg. It is the second Golden Calf for the 29-year-old, who also won in 2012 for her role in Hemel.
Publieke Werken, nominated for 10 awards, failed to win any prizes.
