Former policeman faces gangland attempted murder charges
A 50-year-old policeman from Geleen in Limburg who is being investigated for leaking confidential information to criminals is also suspected of two attempted murders, the public prosecution department said on Tuesday.
The man, who is currently in custody, is suspected of attempting to kill a horse trader with reported criminal connections in December 2014 and March 2016, the Telegraaf said. Jan S was seriously injured in the second attempt after his van was blasted by bullets.
The department has declined to say any more about the new charges, other than that the officer will appear in court on Thursday.
The former police officer was arrested in August after his name came up in connection with another gangland killing last year. He is said to have leaked information about the investigation, the Telegraaf said.
