Football transfer period closes with new Dutch record
Dutch football clubs were involved in a record number of transfers this season, the football association KNVB said on Thursday.
In total, 582 players switched club, five more than last summer when the previous record was set.
The transfer window closed at midnight on Wednesday and the sale of 24-year-old Norwegian player Markus Henriksen by AZ to Hull City in England was the last of the night.
Of players making a move, 170 are moving to a foreign club, 133 players are moving from a foreign club to the Netherlands and 279 are switching between Dutch clubs.
The most expensive deal of the season was Twente’s sale of Hakim Ziyech to Ajax for a reported €11m.
