Mixed fortunes for Dutch clubs in Europa League draw
Amsterdam football club Ajax will meet Standard Luik, Spain’s Celta de Vigo and Panathinaikos in the group round of the Europa League following Friday’s draw.
Feyenoord, drawn in group A will meet Manchester United, Fenerbahçe and Zorja Loegansk from Ukraine. Their first group match will take place on September 15.
The draw means Fenerbahçe striker and Dutch international Robin van Persie will face former sides Manchester United and Feyenoord this autumn. The draw also reunites Feyenoord’s Dirk Kuijt with his old club. The striker played for the Turkish club for three seasons.
AZ of Alkmaar will meet Zenit Sint-Petersburg, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Dundalk FC.
