Dutch football team tumbles to 26 in new Fifa rankings
The Dutch national football team has tumbled 12 places on the latest Fifa rankings of the world’s best football teams and is now in 26th place.
The low placing is partly explained by the Netherlands’ failure to qualify for the recent European football championships.
Top of the list is Argentina, followed by Belgium, Colombia, Germany and Chile. European champions Portugal are in sixth place.
Iceland, which reached the quarter finals of the European championships, has soared from 34 to 22 in the list and is now above the Netherlands for the first time. Oranje topped the rankings for a time in 2011.
