Fewer burglaries, but The Hague bucks national trend
The number of break-ins at Dutch homes fell by 9% last year across the country although there was an actual increase in one in three local authority areas, according to new figures from the national statistics office CBS.
In Utrecht, the decline was more than double the national average at 20%. In Rotterdam the drop was 11% and in Amsterdam 8%. In The Hague, however, there was a 10% increase in home break-ins after years of decline.
Just 7% of burglaries were solved that same year, the CBS said.
