Queen Máxima poses on ski slopes with her three princesses
The Dutch royal family took part in their annual winter season photo shoot on the first day of their skiing holiday in Lech, Austria on Monday.
Some 50 photographers and reporters took part in the session which was set up under the auspices of the royal media code. The code was established in 2005 to enable the young princesses to have as normal a life as possible but also extends to other members of the family.
In the code, journalists agreed not to take photographs of the royal family outside official engagements. In return, the family agreed to pose for photographs at twice-yearly sessions; once in the summer and once at the start of their skiing holiday.
McDonalds
However, the code has come under pressure in recent years, and at the end of last year photographs emerged of king Willem-Alexander with his daughters in a McDonalds restaurant.
The holiday also marks four years since prince Friso was hit by an avalanche while skiing off-piste. He died in the summer of 2014 after spending 18 months in a coma.
The royal party was made up of king Willem-Alexander and his family, prince Constantijn and his wife and children and former queen Beatrix.
