Police sequester 69 properties in money-laundering raids
Justice ministry officials have sequestered 69 properties in Eindhoven and Helmond as part of a major investigation into money laundering.
All the properties are owned by a 42-year-old man from Eindhoven who is considered to be the main suspect in the case, police said on Tuesday. However, no one has yet been arrested.
Police and other officials raided nine separate locations as part of the investigation, including the main suspect’s home in Eindhoven, where they confiscated files, paperwork and hard drives.
Defence ministry experts were also involved in the raid on the suspect’s home because they have ‘special equipment’, the police statement said, but did not go into further details.
In total, 110 officials were involved in Tuesday’s campaign.
According to the Eindhovense Dagblad, the main suspect is the owner of cannabis cafe The Grasshopper which was closed several years ago. He now makes his money renting property to students.
