Shoe retail chain Scapino goes bust as Macintosh fall-out continues
Dutch shoe retailer Scapino was declared bankrupt on Friday afternoon, making it the latest part of the Macintosh retail group to go bust.
The official receivers said in a statement they and the banks are in talks with a number of companies and hope to realise a restart ‘as soon as possible’. The 200 shops remain open while takeover talks continue.
The Macintosh holding company was declared bankrupt at the end of last year and its Dolcis, Invito, Manfield, PRO Sport and Steve Madden chains have since gone bust as well.
The group has some 500 stores in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg and a workforce of 5,500. Macintosh booked a net loss of €102m in 2014.
