Policeman who leaked info damaged around 10 investigations
The policeman arrested for leaking confidential files to criminal gangs last year may have damaged around 10 investigations, the public prosecution department says.
Mark M, 28, had been a police officer for several years when he was picked up in October on charges relating to leaking information. He had not been screened by the security services before his appointment.
In total, M had accessed at least 100 criminal investigations and stored information about them. He is said to have earned at least €800,000 from selling information via internet and on usb sticks.
The investigation into M’s activities is still ongoing.
