Amsterdam’s most expensive apartment bought for €16m
A catering tycoon has snapped up Amsterdam’s most expensive apartment for €16m, less than two months after it went on sale.
Businessman Won Yip bought the 1,440 square metre flat, which has yet to be built, along with eight parking spaces and two moorings for a boat. The property covers the 25th floor of a former timber yard site on the IJ waterfront, and is due to be finished in 2017.
Won Yip owns cafes and nightspots including Majestic, Players, Europub and cafe Zwart, and recently agreed to buy the Heineken Hoek. He told AT5 he made up his mind to buy the apartment when he saw a model of the building at the Masters of LXRY trade fair last year.
Christie’s International Real Estate put the property on the market at the end of November with a price tag of between €12 and €15 million.
‘I feel very privileged that I’m able to buy it,’ Won Yip said.
