Spending on holidays goes up for first time in three years
The Dutch are spending more money on holidays this year, the first time holiday budgets have increased since 2012, according to tourist board research.
In particular, longer and more luxurious holidays abroad are in favour, the research shows.
Total spending on holidays rose 3% in the year October 2014 to September 2015, reaching almost €16bn. Of that, €3bn was spent in the Netherlands, with the North Sea resorts leading the popularity stakes.
Germany remains the most popular destination for a foreign break, followed by France.
