Divorced man can’t share ex-wife’s lottery win: court
An Amsterdam man is not entitled to a share of his ex-wife’s January €2.1m lottery win even though their divorce has just become final, judges ruled on Tuesday.
The couple formally divorced in July after 30 years of marriage and six months after the big win. However, the couple had lived apart for four years and formally divided up their property in October 2014.
The court ruled the man was not entitled to a share of the winnings because his ex-wife had bought the ticket herself. In addition, he did not provide her with any financial support, the court said.
