High street chemist Kruidvat opens first store in France
Dutch budget high street chemists chain Kruidvat is opening its first shop in France, in the northern city of Lille.
The company, which is keeping the same name for the French market, opted for Lille because it is close to Belgium where Kruidvat already has several stores.
‘French people tend to go to hypermarkets or pharmacies. A chemist shop is new for them, so it will be a real challenge,’ CEO Gerard van Breen told broadcaster RTL Z.
The new store is being promoted with the slogan ‘The brands the French love at Dutch prices’.
