Dutch unemployment rate rises slightly, consumer confidence is up

The modern city centre of Almere, The NetherlandsThe Dutch unemployment rate rose fractionally to 6.9% in October, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday.

The jobless rate last rose in July and has hovered around 6.8% for some time, the CBS said.

At the same time, consumer confidence improved by one point to +9 in November. In particular people are less worried about the economic climate and more prepared to spend money on major purchases, the CBS said.
