PSV Eindhoven fail to dent Wolfsburg in Champions League
Football club PSV Eindhoven has dropped to bottom of group B after losing 2-0 away to German side Wolfsburg in the Champions League.
Wolfsburg opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half, with the second goal following 11 minutes later.
PSV had a chance to pull one back with a penalty in the 90th minute, but it was blocked by keeper Diego Benaglio.
After the game, coach Philip Cocu said he was proud of the way his team had played. ‘It’s a pity we didn’t take one of our good chances to score,’ he said. ‘I have to compliment my team on their attitude and not giving up, even after conceding two goals. Who knows what might have happened if we had scored the penalty?’
On Thursday night, Ajax, FC Groningen and AZ of Alkmaar are all in Europa League action.
