Paediatrician arrested on child porn charges
A paediatrician from Radboud teaching hospital in Nijmegen has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography, news agency ANP reports.
The man, who is 39, has been suspended since September 11 but was not arrested until last Monday ‘in the interests of the investigation’. He will remain in custody for further questioning.
Police have declined to give further details about the case but say there is no evidence so far the man produced child pornography himself. ‘Nor is there any evidence of any relationship with the children in his care at the hospital,’ the police spokesman told ANP.
He had worked at the Radboud UMC since 2011 and there had never been any complaints about him, a spokeswoman for the academic hospital said.
