Airbnb to launch damages policy for landlords
Holiday home rental website Airbnb is launching a broader insurance policy for its landlords in 16 countries, including the Netherlands.
The ‘host protection programme’ will protect people who rent out their homes for up to $1m (€880,000), the Financieele Dagblad says on Thursday.
Landlords are already covered for damage to their property caused by tourists but the insurance policy is now being expanded to include personal injury claims and damage caused to other properties.
Airbnb is working with Lloyds of London and all landlords in the Netherlands will be automatically insured, the FD says.
Earlier this month it emerged Airbnb expects to pay Amsterdam city council €5.5m in tourist taxes this year.
