A win, a draw and a defeat for Dutch clubs in Europe
The three Dutch football clubs involved in the group round of the Europa League produced a mixed bag of results on Thursday night.
Ajax only managed a 1-1 draw away against Molde FK, giving the Amsterdammers their second point of the competition.
Ajax has won just one of its last 16 European away games, in Poland, broadcaster Nos pointed out.
In the other Group A match, Fenerbahçe came from two goals down to earn their first Europa League Group A point in a thrilling encounter against Celtic in Glasgow. This means Ajax is joint second in the group, with two points from two matches.
AZ of Alkmaar took home their first points with a 2-1 home win over Bilbao’s Athletic Club in their Group L encounter.
A goal in the first five minutes gave Sporting Braga a 1-0 away win against FC Groningen. The northern Dutch side lost their first game against Olympique Marseille 3-0 and are now bottom of Group F.
